Building community knowledge and practice through an innovative and accessible educational resource.

The Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Regional Learning Centre was created in 2014 to strengthen the skills and abilities of direct care providers and informal caregivers through education, development and focused learning.


All courses offered through the Mississauga Halton  Regional Learning Centre are offered at no or low cost to eligible community members and are based on evidence informed practices. Sessions are facilitated by regulated health professionals.

Accommodating up to 30  learners, the Mississauga Halton LHIN Regional Learning Centre features two classrooms, a  four large screen projectors and computer access, Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) teleconferencing, and office space for staff.


The Mississauga Halton Regional Learning Centre was a winning initiative at the 2015 Partnering for a Healthier Tomorrow Awards.

Community Education Team


Taryn Bolt, OT Reg. (Ont.), MScOT

Senior Manger, Regional Learning Centre

Taryn Bolt is a registered Occupational Therapist who brings over a decade of educational and clinical experience in community healthcare to her current role.


She is passionate about providing evidence-informed education to staff working in the community sector and believes that workplace learning should always be relevant and engaging.  Her clinical areas of expertise include pressure ulcer prevention, dementia care, and safer moving and handling practices.


Taryn’s educational background includes a Bachelor of English and Psychology and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto. She has also completed the Geriatric Certificate from McMaster University.


Kiran Ghatora, RN, MN

Community Education Lead

Kiran Ghatora is a Registered Nurse with a passion for healthcare and education.


Kiran previously worked at St. Michael’s Hospital. As a nurse, she coached and guided nursing students and new nurse graduates to develop clinical skills and apply theoretical knowledge at the bedside. Kiran also provides educational support to patients, families, and fellow staff members through her practice.


Kiran’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and a Master of Nursing degree from Ryerson University.


Yalini Gunarajan, RN, BScN

Community Educator

Yalini Gunarajan is a Registered Nurse with experience in acute medicine, long-term care, community health care, and management.


Yalini is a Registered Nurse with experience working in both acute care settings and the community sector in Ontario and Manitoba, Canada. Most Recently, Yalini acted as a Nursing Supervisor and distinguished herself as a quality leader, directing nursing teams across all responsibilities to ensure an outstanding patient experience. Yalini provided coaching and education to her team of nurses and supported clients in the community and their families.


Yalini’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Laurentian University, in collaboration with Sault College.


Michelle Bertrand, RN, BScN

Community Educator

As a seasoned nurse in both the hospital and community health settings, Michelle possesses a wealth of experience across the healthcare spectrum.


Michelle began her nursing career as a perioperative nurse at Sunnybrook where she was a member of the cardiovascular and trauma surgical teams. With a growing desire to shift her nursing focus to health education and disease prevention, Michelle spent a number of years in primary care nursing roles with the Hamilton and Credit Valley Family Health Teams.


In addition to her clinical duties, Michelle served as a member of a community health outreach team during her tenure with the Credit Valley Family Health Team during which time she played a leading role in the creation and coordination of in-person and virtual health education programming. When Michelle is not helping to educate others, she is busy fulfilling her role as an avid soccer mom and can be found on the field cheering on her son.
